This week’s Community Spotlight is on Bill and Kim Palmer who are locked in the battle to cure neurofibromatosis (NF) – literally. With a number of their family members affected by NF, Bill & Kim have been involved with NF Northeast over the years, and are the founders of the “Awareness is Key” Comedy Night. The third annual “Awareness is Key” Comedy Night took place on November 19, 2016, and the Palmers once again demonstrated their commitment to helping increase awareness about NF and raise needed funds for research to find a cure for the disorder.
Bill Palmer is a locksmith by trade and in 2014 he and his wife, Kim, launched their “Awareness is Key” Campaign. To kick off the campaign, Bill and Kim presented a check for $500 to NF Northeast.
Then they enlisted the help of family member and well-known comedian, Brian Powers, who along with 3 others made laughter and good natured humor the vehicle to increase NF awareness, and they launched their first annual comedy night.
But that wasn’t the only vehicle used; as can be seen, NF features very prominently on the Palmer Lock and Key van helping to bring even more visibility!
Their third annual comedy night was a great success and included dinner and raffles, along with the hilarius headliner Steve Sweeney.
Proceeds from the “Awareness is Key” Comedy Night will support the programs of Neurofibromatosis Northeast.
